This hands-on mosaics class is beginner friendly but students with prior experience can enjoy applying their skills to a new and more complex project. Come create a 10” X 11” mosaic that can be used as a mirror frame, wall hanging, or small tabletop. We will use the direct method setting technique and will work with ceramic and porcelain tiles, broken dishes, and glass marbles. You will design your own mosaic piece, cut and nip tiles, learn about design and opus, set your tesserae with the appropriate adhesive, and finally grout. All materials and tooling are provided. And, if you want to work independently after class on your project, you can bring a lunch and stay for “open studio” hours from 1-4 p.m.

It is spring and time to brighten up your home or garden. Mosaic balls are a hot home décor or garden item. They can be elegant or whimsical; perched upon a pillar candle holder, floating in a water tub, or set in the garden amongst flowers and plants. Yes, these balls really float! In this class you will make 3 small, 2 medium, or 1 large mosaic ball. No mosaic experience necessary but students with experience will equally enjoy this creative and unique class. You will learn how to cut and nip your tiles, glass marbles, or other objects, set tesserae onto a rounded surface, use adhesives appropriate for interior or exterior use, and grout. All materials and tooling are provided. And, if you want to work independently after class on your project, you can bring a lunch and stay for “open studio” hours from 1-4 p.m.
